Dear VeloNews,
I see that Tyler Hamilton has won the Mt.Washington Hillclimb again.Perhaps, for the sake of truth in reporting, you should note that whileHamilton came in first in the Suspended Doper division, good old Ned Overend won in the Non-Suspended-Doper division.

Herndon, VirginiaWell, we do know that Deadly Nedly was first among riders eligiblefor AARP discounts. That counts for something, too, doesn’t it? – EditorWhere is the pride in that?
Editor:
I had the privilege of lining up in the 1st group in the 1999 Mt.Washington auto road hillclimb, and it was an unforgettable experienceto line up on the parcours with Tyler Hamilton.I’m surprised the conservation group that organizes the race wants thedistinction of the only race in the world Mr. Hamilton can start. Perhapsnext year the (erstwhile) TDF champion Landis and those who were not allowedto start the Tour can all line up and take on Tom Danielson’s record!

So, Tyler wins Mt. Washington again. Did the Tyler Hamilton Foundationsanction, I mean provide insurance, for the race again this year, too?

Is this “his” World’s qualification race?

Hey Joe, what are you doing with that syringe in your hand?
Editor,
My favorite entertainers have doped. Hendrix, Joplin… Comeon. Clapton on heroin gave us “Layla,” off he did “You Look Wonderful Tonight.”Which one are you listening to?Remember McGwire and Sosa? Who was second place to Bonds whenhe broke 70 home runs? And in the Tour who do we memorialize wheneverthe ride goes up Ventoux? Why, it’s Tom Simpson, of course, who diedbecause of doping.Express your outrage and disappoint all you want, I suppose. Just don’tlisten to “Electric Ladyland.”

Mailbag Editor,
Latent synthetic hormones embedded in fat may have been released whenLandis burned off fat during his bonking episode on stage 16. Afterthe fat is gone, the hormones were free to reenter the bloodstream. The synthetic hormones we see in his blood now may have been residue leftover from an imperfect pre-season cleansing process. Landis may nothave taken obviously detectable drugs during the tour, but it still doesn’tmake him clean.
