O’Fallon’s Tour de WingHaven bicycle race on Sunday, June 8, already is one of the Midwest’s top cycling competitions. This year’s event features several world-class competitors and a new wrinkle for the area’s top amateur cyclists.

Tour de WingHaven’s $20,000 in cash and prizes is the largest single-day payout in Missouri cycling. This year, the top two male and female amateur winners in the “Pro” division will win the opportunity to compete in one of the nation’s top professional cycling competitions,
the UCI 2.1 Nature Valley Grand Prix in Minnesota. The four winners will receive free entry into the race as well as travel stipends, team clothing, housing, transportation and full team staff support.

This year’s race also is drawing several of the nation’s top pro riders. Daniel Holloway, who recently brought home a silver medal in the 2008 Pan-American road and track cycling hampionships, will lead his VMG/Felt racing team through the streets of O’Fallon in the Pro race.

The event is free to spectators, who will be able to view the competition up close along the fast-paced, three-mile course through the streets of WingHaven.

In addition to the “Pro” division race, Tour de WingHaven features races for cyclists of all levels, including kids’ races and various amateur-level competitions. Registration for the race is now open at www.TourdeWingHaven.com and continues until 30 minutes before each race.
There are categories for all ages for USCF-licensed riders, from Junior to Professional.
