The Northwave Aerlite SBS was first shown to the public by Gunn-Rita Dahl, who raced in it at the Beijing Olympics this summer. The sole contains carbon powder, and the shoe features a natural rubber tread, an “Ultra Y Heel Cup” and “cats tongue” material lining the heel.
A release button on the instep buckle allows riders to precisely adjust the strap’s pressure. A 100 percent carbon-soled model, the Aerlite SBS Carbon, will be available next year.
