Don’t think it’s too soon to plan ahead for the first favorite ride of the season on Colorado’s Front Range. As usual, ground zero begins at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock, Colo., for the 8-mile family course, 32, 50, 65, 100-mile road rides, and a 25-mile off-road course during the 22nd Annual Elephant Rock Cycling Festival Sunday, June 7, 2009. For adventurers new and seasoned, the clock starts June 5, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. for the 24-hour race at the Greenland Open Space Park south of Castle Rock in Douglas County.
Registration for the festival will open in early December. Harris encourages riders to visit the event website (www.elephantrockride.com) and opt into email updates (there will be a few more) to register on time for their favorite event and distance. The 2009 ERock website goes live November 15.
“After an amazing response to our rider survey this year, we’re happy to announce some updates to the event. I want to thank all of the loyal cyclists who have been with us for so many years and who care as much as we do about this annual cycling festival,” said event organizer Scot Harris.
Rocky Mountain Events is based in Denver, Colo., and operates the 22-year-old Subaru Elephant Rock Cycling Festival, the 3rd Annual GoFast 24 Hours of ERock Race, the 17th Annual Kaiser-Permanente Moonlight Classic and the 4th Annual Colorado Cyclist Copper Triangle benefitting the Davis Phinney Foundation.
