Webcor announces 2009 squad

Webcor Builders Women’s Professional Cycling has announced its roster for the 2009 racing season.

Longtime team leader Christine Thorburn has retired to pursue her career in medicine, but Canadian Olympians Erinne Willock and Gina Grain have returned for another season.

Also back for more are Katheryn Curi Mattis, who last year became the second U.S. rider to win a UCI road World Cup event; Rebecca Much, the 2008 under-23 U.S. national time trial champion; Amy Dombroski, 2008 U-23 national cyclocross champion; and Janel Holcomb.

New to the squad for ’09 are Aussies Nikki Egyed and Alexis Rhodes. Egyed, an alternate on the Australian Olympic team, finished seventh at the Tour de Berne World Cup. And Rhodes is already off to a good start this season, finishing second behind Carla Ryan in the Australian national time trial championships.
