Jittery Joe’s Cycling rebuilds by joining forces with the Kudzu.com U25 Team

The news of the Jittery Joe’s cycling team taking a step back from their professional status was a sure sign of tough times; in the end it is a return to their roots and a bright new beginning for the team. Jittery Joe’s and Kudzu.com are joining forces for the 2009 season to form the Jittery Joe’s presented by Kudzu.com U25 Cycling team.

In 2008 the Kudzu.com team debuted with the mission of providing a program focused on the growth of U23 riders from the southeast US. Following a successful season in 2008, team manager Jeremy Hutchison-Krupat was looking to grow the team for 2009 when the news came of the Bean Team taking a sabbatical from their professional status.

Merging the two teams was a natural extension for both teams; Jittery Joe’s has a long history of being a “feeder” team and a strong following in the southeast and nationally. For 2009 the Jittery Joe’s p/b Kudzu.com U25 Cycling Team strengthens its leadership and experience by bringing on Dan Larson as Team Director. The four rider squad of Jafer Beizer, Thomas Brown, Oscar Clark and Joey Rosskopf returns from last year and will be joined by Mike Niemi, former US junior national time trial champion and Anthony Bennett, former Australian junior national scratch race champion.

Micah Rice, who built the Jittery Joe’s Cycling team from the ground up commented, “While it is always hard to take a step back, I think we have put together a really strong and reputable program for 2009. Jittery Joe’s will always have a strong presence in the cycling community.”

Returning to their roots for 2009, the team’s funding will rely heavily on the direct sale of coffee by the team and its riders.

Kudzu.com is a local business search engine owned and operated by Cox Search Inc., a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, one of the nation’s leading media companies and providers of automotive services.
