New from Tanita, makers of precision scales and body composition monitors, the BC-558 Ironman InnerScan Body Composition Monitor. What sets the BC-558 apart from other body composition scales is its ability to measure the composition of each body segment — trunk, right arm, left arm, right leg, and left leg.
In addition to segmental readings, the BC-558 also provides a complete body composition profile, including weight, total and segmental body fat percentage, body water percentage, total and segmental muscle mass, bone mass, basal metabolic rate, visceral fat, metabolic age and physique rating.
All measurements are calculated using a full body bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) method. Full body BIA calculates body composition using low-level electric signals. Given information about the user’s height, weight, and gender, the BC-558 calculates composition based on the resistance encountered by the electric impulses.
The BC-558 features a graph that allows the user to compare composition readings during a given time period. The scale has a memory for up to four users and a capacity of 330 pounds.
