Katusha’s Laszlo Bodrogi is finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel following a long and painful recovery from a broken femur suffered in last August’s Tour of Germany.

The Hungarian time trial specialist, winner of the silver medal at the 2007 world time trial championships, said he hopes to return to competition at the Four Days of Dunkirk on May 5-10.

“I started my training since the end of February. Today my leg is much better and I have a lot of improvements at the level of my fracture as well as in the fluidity of my movements and the level of pain in my leg. For the moment I have pain just at the level of the ankle,” Bodrogi said in a team statement. “Last weekend I have participated in some cyclocross competitions by agreement of our sports directors and our management to test my physical conditions. So, it was so nice for me. I finished the race in the leading group with enough power. So, I can say that my recovery is going well.”

Bodrogi is the lone Katusha rider who hasn’t raced this year so far. He originally planned to race the Settimana Ciclistica Coppi & Bartali in March, but realized he wasn’t quite ready yet.

“I have to discuss my plans to return with (sport director) Serge Parsani. I hope it will be at ‘Four Days of Dunkirk’ in May,” he said. “I think I can try to begin there to organize my second part of the season. I want to thanks to my team for great support they given to me. I want to come back on the road very soon.”

The 32-year-old turned pro with Mapei in 2000 and switched to Crédit Agricole in 2005 for a four-year run before signing with Katusha for 2009.
