CTS Sand Creek Series starts Sunday

The 2009 Carmichael Training Systems Sand Creek Series kicks off Sunday at Bear Creek Terrace in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The mountain bike series includes the CTS Sand Creek International Classic, slated for June 13 at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, just south of Colorado Springs.

The UCI C3 International Classic is part of the USA Cycling Pro Mountain Bike Cross Country Tour presented by Sho-Air and serves as the Western final of the Kenda US Cup.

Other events in the series will be run at Bear Creek Terrace on June 3 and 24 and July 1 and 8, on trails specifically designed and built for mountain bike racing. The venue will also host a non-series event — a round of USA Cycling’s Pro XCT Short Track Series presented by Escapeadventures.com — on June 12, the day before the International Classic.

The series finale is scheduled August 1 at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

The finale also serves as the State Games of America race.
