The Rocky Mountain Bicycle Show kicked off its second year on Saturday at Denver’s National Western Complex.
Eye candy abounded, and a steady stream of visitors kept the 70 or so exhibitors busy talking most of the day. Free microbrew samples ensured that spirits were high, and the relative coolness of the vast hall sheltered visitors and exhibitors alike from the 96-degree heat outside.
After closing time, the action shifted to Boulder for a series of track races, six-day style, on Boulder Indoor Cycling‘s 142-meter indoor wooden track. Dubbed the “Boulder 6,” the races featured such stars as Colby Pearce and Clark Sheehan, as well as a nasty crash in the keirin, one of the last events of the evening.
Match sprints, an exciting points race and the final event — a super-fast and competitive Madison — made for gripping watching. With free food and microbrews from Oskar Blues and Avery Brewing, what’s not to like?
The Rocky Mountain Bicycle Show continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the National Western Complex.
