PRESS RELEASE

AUSTIN—The internationally sanctioned Society of Licensed Bike Racing Brothers (SOLBRB) is proud to announce the inaugural Tour de Gruene Brother Challenge: Bro-down in German Town. This competition is intended to settle decades of debate over which brothers may officially lay claim to the title of world’s fastest bike racing duo.

Brothers will compete in the 27.3-mile Tour de Gruene two-man time trial, held on Sunday, Nov. 1. The fastest team will be deemed official Brother World Champions.

Rules and Regulations: The Brother Challenge is open to male siblings of birth and legal relation. In the case of doubtful kinness, certificates of birth, parental marriage licenses, and family trees inked on weathered buckskin must be presented upon request. “Blood brothers” need not apply.

The Brother Challenge is an “Eddy Merckx style” time trial, limited solely to the use of road bikes with drop handlebars. Racing wheels of up to 50-millimeters in depth will be permitted. Any and all aero equipment, including clip on handlebars, time trial helmets, and shoe covers, will be subject to time penalties ranging from 10-seconds to 10-minutes, depending on the garishness of the item. Use of a rear seat water bottle mount is grounds for immediate disqualification. Note: Any time trial equipment deemed ironic in nature, such as a circa 1990 funny bike with 24-inch front disc wheel, may receive a time bonus.

Prizes: The winners of the Brother Challenge will be awarded matching embroidered sweater vests bearing the official SOLBRB World Championship seal. Additionally, the Brother Challenge winners will be presented with a set of blue and red Tyco RC dune buggies. Bickering over color will not be tolerated.

Official Invitations: The SOLBRB is pleased to extend official invitations to bike racing brothers who’ve achieved international, national, and statewide renown. Official invitees include: The Brothers Shleck, Fränk and Andy, Luxembourg; The McCormack Brothers, Frank and Mark, Plymouth, MA; The Crosby Brothers, Bret and Casey, Dallas, TX; The Willis-Daniel Brothers, Andrew and Bob, Lytle, TX; The Hamilton Brothers, Tyler and vanishing twin, Boston, MA.

Registration: Tour de Gruene registration opens Saturday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. and can be found at www.tourdegruene.com . The Tour de Gruene 2009 Brother Challenge: Bro-down in German Town is an independent production of Dille Bros. Inc. Please send letters of intent to ian@iandille.com or kendille@dillestrator.com .
