One name: Joey Temptest. Where else but in Europe can Europe’s “Final Countdown” be blared at high decibels without a hint of corniness?

Well, if you happen to be lining up for a race on the World Cup circuit like Giant’s Adam Craig did at Champéry, Switzerland last weekend, the Euro-rocking tune circa-1986 just might illicit goose bumps (and a pre-start dash to the porta-pooper). Guess you’d have to be there, or at least allow Craig to explain.

“It’s lap two of the World Cup XC in Champerey,” Craig writes in his blog from over there. “I’m riding up the first proper climb of the race, a short, steep dirt track lined with screaming fans across from a meadow filled with cows sporting huge bells as a sound that’s definitely not cows rolls across the hills. That’s right “IT’S THE FIIII-NAL COUNT-DOWN!!” Amazing.”

Check out more of Craig’s blog for additional tasty musical interludes from across the Pond. Next up this coming weekend is the final stop on the 2009 World Cup at Schladming, Austria, where there is a very good chance that the sound of music propelling racers will be “Rock Me Amadeus.”

Cycling gods, please spare them!
