Thor Hushovd wants to make it loud and clear: he’s intending on racing the 2010 Tour de France and defending his green jersey.

There were some conflicting reports that the Norwegian winner of the 2009 sprinter’s jersey might skip the Tour, but the Cervélo TestTeam rider confirmed that next July will be much like this year.

“Winning the green jersey was my major objective for 2009, and 2010 will be no different,” said Hushovd on Cervélo’s web page. “I love the Tour de France. Given the level of competition for the green, it will no doubt be a great fight in 2010 and I am looking forward to it.”

Hushovd enjoyed a strong 2009 campaign, notching third-place podiums at Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix as well as winning one stage and taking the green jersey at the Tour.

With a sprinter’s course on tap in the 2010 road cycling world championships, Hushovd said he will reshape his racing calendar to reach a peak next fall.

“I am going to change some things in my program next year, to be in top form at the Worlds, since next year’s race suits me better than this year’s course in Mendrisio,” he said.

Hushovd will attend the presentation of the 2010 Tour de France later this month in Paris.

The team also signed Dutch sprinter Theo Bos to a two-year contract last week.
