Lars Bak is hoping he’ll get more chances to win on his own with a move to Columbia-HTC for 2010.
In 2009, the team earned victories from 15 different riders, so the veteran Danish attacker is expecting he’ll get his shots at the W-column.
“One thing I’ve always liked about Columbia-HTC is you can see everybody gets a chance to win,” Bak said in a team release. “Signing with Columbia-HTC was one opportunity I didn’t want to let go by.”
A former winner of the Tour de l’Avenir, Bak has been under the tutelage of Bjarne Riis at Saxo Bank since 2005, where he’s won three consecutive national time trial titles.
Columbia-HTC’s Brian Holm says Bak is an ideal addition to the team for 2010.
“Lars is the kind of rider who won’t win 10 races a year, but he’s always there in the mix,” Holm said in a team release. “Lars is a great team player. He really gets stuck into helping his teammates if he feels they’ve a better chance to win, and that’s something we appreciate a lot in our team.”
