The heck with retirement: Pereiro signs with Astana

Despite suggesting over the weekend that his career was over Oscar Pereiro has signed a one-year contract with Astana, the Kazakh team announced on Tuesday.
The move will allow Pereiro to join up with compatriot Alberto Contador, who is the reigning Tour de France champion. Pereiro won the Tour in 2006, his first year as a member of Caisse d’Epargne.
Pereiro will join up with his new teammates at their training camp in Pisa, Italy, on Wednesday.
