Health insurance company UnitedHealthcare is stepping in as title sponsor of the team known in 2009 as OUCH.

The team, owned and managed by Momentum Sports Group, announced Friday that the new team will be known as the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis.

“Our partnership with Momentum Sports Group reinforces our commitment to encourage healthful lifestyles and promote the importance of exercise and outdoor activity,” said Steve Nelson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s west region. “Additionally, our title sponsorship provides a great opportunity to expand our efforts through the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation to support children in need across the country.”

The team will work with its new sponsor to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles, Attias said. The team is scheduled to compete in 91 races in 26 states in 2010.

“It’s a good feeling, knowing that every pedal stroke will go not just toward winning races but also to helping open children’s eyes to the importance of exercise and physical activity,” he said.
