Cannondale Bicycles will expand its Cannondale Factory Racing (CFR) to the United States in 2010.

Tinker Juarez and Jeremiah Bishop, both of whom raced for MonaVie-Cannondale in 2009, will join CFR alongside 10-time Belgian Champion and 2008 Marathon World Champ Roel Paulissen as well as Italian rider Marco Aurelio Fontana and Swiss rider Martin Gujan. The team will also include athletes who compete across multiple disciplines, said Rory Mason, director of sports marketing for Cycling Sports Group, in a release.

“As we look to the future and how Cannondale will continue to support mountain bike racing and its elite athletes, we recognize the opportunity to create a global mountain bike platform, the Cannondale Factory Racing team,” Mason said.

He said the expansion of CFR aligns with Cannondale’s focus on global innovation and its recognition that pro-athletes play a critical role in raising awareness and support for the sport on an international and domestic level.

Cannondale has supported mountain bike racing since 1994 — first with Volvo-Cannondale; then with the creation of Cannondale Factory Racing; and most recently with MonaVie-Cannondale.

Cycling Sports Group’s Michael De Leon said Cannondale will not be continuing on as the equipment and jersey provider for the MonaVie team for the 2010 season.

“We see an opportunity with Cannondale Factory Racing to continue to support mountain biking with an international team that mirrors the global nature of the Cannondale brand,” De Leon said.
