interesting. Cyclocross Magazine also did a great set of wheel reviews in their latest issue...and included one thing I'd love to see in your reviews: rim weight! Why not expose the fact that much of the weight savings is in the hubs? Get a copy of their mag to see it.

Easton's R4SL hubs are plagued with adjustment issues. The "cones" that are supposed to keep the cartridge bearings from developing play do a poor job of doing so. My Easton EC90 Aero wheels need to be adjusted before every race and even then develop play halfway through a cross race. I thought that it was my wrenching until I asked other riders who have the same hubs (different wheel models) about their experiences and they concurred that the hubs do not remain adjusted for a reasonable amount of time.

I'm sort of disgusted that any brand-new wheel-set costing $1500 comes to you out-of-true and out-of-dish. Unacceptable.

One thing that probably ought be noted in any review of carbon wheels is, if you swap between carbon and aluminum wheels, swap out your brake pads as well. A guy in my club was told that the pads he has can be used on carbon or aluminum rims. So over the season he never swapped pads then one day he came to the side of a cliff and couldn't stop in time.

Judging by the technical nature of this article I suspect that I am giving out well known and almost childishly obvious information, but in case there is someone reading this who doesn't know better, please make sure never mix your pads.

Lennard, great review. Are you going to also ride these wheels on the road and/or review them for road use?

Wow, you sure are forgiving of the Ritchey's faults. Any wheel that arrives that badly built should be sent back for a refund - regular consumers won't have the wheel building skills that you do.
