After expanding Cannondale Factory Racing to the U.S. for the 2010 season and adding Tinker Juarez and Jeremiah Bishop to the roster, Cannondale now has Manuel Fumic on the team.
Fumic, a two-time Olympian and former U23 World Champion from Germany, will make his racing debut with CFR at the SRAM XX Maremma MTB Cup in Italy in March alongside Italian teammate Marco Aurelio Fontana.
“The World Cup podium is my goal for this season and then the total focus will be on London 2012,” said Fumic, 28. “I can’t wait to get on my new Lefty-equipped Flash and Scalpel and to put Cannondale’s innovation to the ultimate test in pursuit of my goals.”
In January, Cannondale announced that it was expanding CFR to the United States in 2010. Juarez and Bishop, both of whom raced for the now defunct MonaVie-Cannondale in 2009, will join CFR alongside 10-time Belgian Champion and 2008 Marathon World Champ Roel Paulissen as well Swiss rider Martin Gujan and Fontana.
CFR racers will compete in World Cup events and long distance races. Bishop and Juarez will be present on the U.S. circuit.
“Cannondale Factory Racing recruits athletes who share our vision for the sport of mountain biking and Manual Fumic is a great example of the modern style we represent,” said Daniel Hespeler, CFR team manager. “I am confident that the team infrastructure will not only support Manuel’s current level of competition, but will allow him to develop his skills so he can move to the next level.”
