Dumoulin takes third stage at Bessèges

Michael Barry and Team Sky lead the chase

Samuel Dumoulin (Cofidis) notched a victory in Friday’s third stage at the l’Etoile de Bessèges.

Dumoulin out-kicked Borut Bozic (Vacansoleil) to end his two-day winning streak at the five-day French race. Bozic, winner of the
opening two stages, came through second and retained the overall lead.

Dutch rider Tom Veelers crossed the line third in the 148km third stage ending in Bangols-sur-Cèze.

The victory is Dumoulin’s second on the year, after his success in a stage at the Tropicale Amissa Bongo in January.

The 40th edition of the French race continues Saturday with the 140km stage starting and finishing in Alès. It wraps up Sunday with a 145km stage in Bessèges.
