Shelley Evans of the U.S. National Team is undefeated so far at the 2010 Women’s Tour of New Zealand, after winning the second stage in a field sprint ahead of Xin Liu Gia and Yiu Wong Wan, both of China’s Giant Pro Cycling Team.

Evans won the 114km stage from Masterton to Palmerston North in 3:12:58 and thanks to a 10-second time bonus, expanded her GC lead to 14 seconds ahead of Australia’s Ruth Corset of the Nashua team.

The second American on stage 2 was Amber Neben in 18th. The U.S. team also leads the team GC competition ahead of Japan.

On Friday the racers will complete a 125km circuit race in Palmerston North, followed by an 11km individual time trial.
