A Trek-Livestrong team bike, stolen from Mellow Johnny’s bike shop in Austin in November, is back home, minus its wheels, after being recovered in Mexico.

The bike apparently was bought at a flea market near Guanajuato, Mexico, and brought to a bike shop near there. The shop owner recognized it and called Trek’s Latin American manager, who identified it.

The Trek TTX time trial bike is the property of Trek Bicycle and was used by the team’s Ryan Baumann last year (Baumann is racing for the Bahati Foundation Pro Cycling Team this season). When stolen it was set up with a Bontrager Aeolus 90 front wheel and a Zipp disc rear.

The bike has been returned to Mellow Johnny’s. Store sales manager Ted Arnold said that other than the missing wheels, it appears to be in perfect condition.
