Two-time world pursuit champion Taylor Phinney is Trek-Livestrong’s marquee rider. In preparation for his try at a second rainbow jersey, Phinney spent part of last month road racing at the Tour of Qatar. VeloNews‘ Ben Delaney was there and took a closer look at Phinney’s road bike.

Aside from the SRAM Red drivetrain, Speedplay pedals, Fizik saddle and the PowerTap hub and computer, everything else is a Trek product. Trek of course provides the frameset, but also the wheels, stem, handlebars, bottles, bottle cages and even the brake pads. Some of this equipment is labeled Bontrager, a Trek brand. And it all comes out of a little bike shop in Texas.
