In what’s good news for French racing, French credit company Cofidis le Credit en Ligne has decided to extend its title sponsorship through 2012.
Cofidis has backed the team since 1997 and was considering its options at the end of its current contract which was set to expire this year. A press release said the team is extremely happy with the media impact the team provides.
The renewed support will be a boon for French cycling, which has seen the number of top-level teams diminish over the past few years.
With the fresh backing, team officials said it hopes to rejoin the ProTour league for the 2011 season after dropping to Pro Continental level for the 2010 season.
Cofidis has been on a tear this season, earning 11 victories in the opening months of the 2010 campaign, highlighted by overall victory by Samuel Dumoulin at l‘Etoile de Bessèges, a Paris-Nice stage with Amael Moinard and four victories by Belgian sensation Jens Keukeleire.
