"Priorities: Winning bike races is one thing, but Hunter's got something much more important to attend to.

Double stage winner Robbie Hunter left the Vuelta a Murcia in Spain on Friday after learning that his wife has gone into labor.

The 32-year-old Garmin-Transitions rider won both the first and second stages of this week’s race and was wearing the leader’s jersey when he decided to withdraw. Hunter and his wife already have a daughter who was born just days before the 2008 Tour of France.

Hunter beat Australia’s Graeme Brown (Rabobank) and Spain’s Vicente Reynes (HTC-Columbia) in a sprint finish in Wednesday’s opening stage. The three finished in the same order at the end of Thursday’s second stage.

With Hunter’s departure, Brown will move into the overall lead.
