With the Sea Otter Classic in their back yard, the crew at Santa Cruz Bicycles is busy building a slew of their new 6-inch Butcher and 5-inch Nickel rigs to show off at the show.

Last week SCB trotted out their carbon Nomad, now it’s a pair of entirely new bikes sporting the company’s patented Actual Pivot Point suspension. APP is a single-pivot suspension that uses a pair of links to create a variable shock rate.

But instead of us yammering on (which we’ll do after getting our butts on the bikes at Sea Otter), we’ll let the gents at Santa Cruz explain the engineering themselves. What you need to know after watching the vids is that the Nickel (6.65lbs) and Butcher (6.73lbs) frame with a Fox Float R shock will start at $1,350. The latest offering from Santa Cruz will be available mid-June.
