Jacob Keough (UnitedHealthcare-Maxxis) took the reins of the UHC sprint train and delivered a long-sought-after win at the Spartanburg Downtown Criterium Friday night in South Carolina.

Keough bested Wednesday’s winner in Walterboro, Hilton Clarke (OUCH-Bahati Foundation) in the fifth of seven USA Crits SpeedWeek events.

In the women’s race, Theresa Cliff-Ryan kept the Colavita-Baci SpeedWeek sweep rolling, taking the bunch sprint over Laura Van Gilder (Mellow Mushroom) and Erica Allar (Vera Bradley Foundation).

The win was Cliff-Ryan’s fourth of the week and she padded her lead in the series overall standings.

SpeedWeek continues Saturday with the Dilworth Criterium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
