Visconti holds off Hutarovich for the win

Cyril Lemoine of Saur-Sojasun took the overall lead in the Tour of Luxembourg on Thursday after  Giovanni Visconti (ISD) won stage 1, from Luxembourg to Hesperange.

Lemoine took the lead from fellow Frenchman and teammate Jimmy Engoulvent, who won Wednesday’s prologue.

Lance Armstrong (RadioShack) stands third overall after finishing in the peloton; his teammate Gregory Rast is second.

Visconti outsprinted Yauheni Hutarovich (FdJ) and Borut Bozic (Vacansoleil) in the sprint for the line after a 179.7km ride.

“I had to launch the sprint off my team leader Oscar Gatto, but he fell away and so I decided to go for the win,” Visconti said after his fifth stage win of the season.
