Greg Henderson (Team Sky) kicked to victory in Friday’s 178km third stage at the Ster Elektrotoer in Holland.
Team Sky surged to the front of the pack with 5km to go to set up Henderson, where sky went one-two, with teammate Russell Downing taking second ahead of Alex Rasmussen (Saxo Bank).
“We didn’t get it right on yesterday’s stage. We just made some simple mistakes but we sat down afterwards, talked it through and vowed to learn from it – and that’s exactly what everyone’s done. We corrected those simple mistakes today, jockeyed positions around a little bit and it all worked out perfectly,” Henderson said after the stage. “I was just guiding them from behind, talking to them and making sure everyone knew where they had to be and when they had to do it.”
With time bonuses, Henderson jumped to fourth on GC, just seven seconds behind leader Jos Van Emden (Rabobank), who finished safely in the pack.
