Matteo Carrara (Vacansoleil) collected the overall victory at the Tour du Luxembourg on Sunday.

Gorka Izaguirre (Euskaltel-Euskadi) won the final 135km stage ahead of Serguei Ivanov and Carrara, who both finished in the same time.

When the times were tallied, Carrara had locked up the overall by one second over Fränk Schleck (Saxo Bank) and 30 over Lance Armstrong (Team RadioShack).

“I am very happy to win the Tour du Luxembourg over such names as Fränk Schleck and as Lance Armstrong,” Carrara said. “This podium, it means everything to me.”

Like Schleck and Armstrong, Carrara plans to tackle the Tour of Switzerland next.
