Tony Gallopin (Cofidis) won the third and penultimate stage of the Tour du Luxembourg Saturday at Diekirch.
Matteo Carrara (Vacansoleil) retained the leader’s golden jersey.
“This is my first success in the pros,” said Gallopin, nephew of Alain Gallopin, sporting director at Team RadioShack. “I’m not really a climber. But I hung on all day because I knew I had a small chance in a bunch finish.”
The mountainous queen stage failed to shake up the overall standings going into Sunday’s 149km finale.
