“Speculation has surrounded Armstrong's role in the new race…” Let's just talk about the elephant in the living room, shall we? There's no doubt in my mind that there's money to be made by the Lance-Livestrong juggernaut…oops, I mean awareness to be raised in the fight against cancer…yeah, that's what I meant to say. Why bother showing up at the inaugural/struggling Tour of Missouri when you've got your own iron in the fire?Don't tell me Lance is the greatest TdF rider in history, or that Colorado has more challenging and scenic riding than Missouri, because statements like that are beside my point, and besides, I would agree with you.

Ive dreamed of this happening for years. I have lived in Colorado all my life and it truly is the most beautiful place ever. Hopefully this race will be here for years, sparking new generations of cyclists and enthusiasts. This is just another step in getting more American involvement in international cycling. The money coming into our state won't hurt either.

Too bad you think of all Christians in such light. Maybe you should actually meet some of us and you might actually change your mind. A whole bunch of us are very real people, are very avid cyclists, and cannot wait for this race to get to our state!

This is too bad (and very short-sighted) for Missouri, but good news for CO. Now, if you can bring one of those stages down to Northern New Mexico, such as a stage based on the Enchanted Circle/US 64 routes, I'd be even happier.

I like your optimism but I think it will be years, if ever, before the Euro guys make any race in the USA a target and perform here at the highest level. Even Lance had no interest in competing for the overall at TofCA, it's always been about France. Euro guys will always want results on their home soil first. That being said, a quality stage race at altitude like the TofCO would be ideal preparation for the World Championships. Eight days would be better than having to drop out of the Vuelta midway. Still, I hate to see American races try to compete with the Grand Tours. It divides the talent on the good teams in my opinion and waters down the Grand Tours. While I love seeing my fave Euro stars racing in person here, you rarely see them in top form. Cancellara and Cav were lukewarm at TofCA and even then Levi and DZ couldn't capitalize while the Euro guys were in prepping mode.

Maybe they can make another bike racing movie…the premise: an aging retire successful American racer (Costner), who once rode for Specialized, come out of retirement and tries to resurrect his glory days on the Morgul Bismark RR course.

Hmmm, Armstrong has been in the works on this… Well.. I wonder if the federal case will affect this going forward or not? I can see SRAM coming on board for sure. Honey Stinger.. Colorado Board of Tourism.. Mellow Johnnys's bike shop…etc… I think it will be great.. As someone else said.. Nothing like Vail Pass! Umm.. need some oxygen please..
