VeloNews.com is proud to announce the newest feature on our website: Velonews Training Center. Through our exciting new partnership with the world-renowned Boulder Center for Sports Medicine, we will be bringing you the very latest, state-of-the art information on training, nutrition, injury, bike fit, cross-training, and a host of other cycling-related medical and performance topics. VeloNews Training Center, which launches Thursday and will be updated regularly, will be your one-stop shop for reliable, current, and accurate information.

The Boulder Center for Sports Medicine (BCSM) was founded by Andrew Pruitt, EdD, PA-C, in 1998. The center is known throughout the world as one of the premiere sports medicine facilities. It is designed to emulate an Olympic Training Center and is a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Sports Medicine Rehabilitation Network. Pruitt has worked with elite athletes for years and has become the world’s foremost expert in 3D bike fit analysis. His patients include some of the most formidable cyclists in the world including Fabian Cancellara, Andy and Frank Schleck, Jens Voigt, Alberto Contador, and other ProTour riders who either see Pruitt as part of their team, or fly to Boulder from around the world on their own accord. Pruitt is also the author of The Complete Medical Guide for Cyclists.

In addition to Pruitt’s decades of experience in endurance sports medicine, BCSM offers a wide range of services to athletes, all of which will now be at the disposal of VeloNews.com readers.

BCSM is also home of the USA Cycling National Coach of the Year for 2009 and 2007 Developmental Coach of the Year, Neal Henderson. Henderson is an elite coach to athletes such as world champion and Olympian Taylor Phinney, and brings years of sports medicine expertise to the table as BCSM’s Sport Science Director. Beyond his elite and professional cycling and triathlon clients, Neal also coaches numerous junior, age-group, and masters national and world champions. He is also a former President of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of American College of Sports Medicine.

Not only does BSCM have an incomparable staff comprised of physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, chiropractors, biomechanists, and certified massage therapists, BCSM is backed by the support and expertise of a number of board-certified orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists, and other sports medicine specialists including Dr. Jason Glowney, Dr. David Grauer, Dr. Eric McCarty, Dr. Stephen Paul, Dr. Hunter Smith, and many others. All of these experts will work to provide VeloNews.com readers with information on a wide variety of issues that are important to cyclists of all abilities.

For the past 12 years BCSM has been providing athletes from around the world with the highest possible level of care. The combined approach to treatment at BCSM, including not just the diagnosis and treatment of injuries, but also the prevention of them, as well as performance-enhancing strategies, has made it the world-class institution that it is today. We are very excited about the opportunity to work with BCSM and to bring you the very latest, scientifically backed information on a host of cycling-related issues.
