Phinney skipping Burnaby four-day; Farrar to team with Christian Meier

Contrary to early reports, Taylor Phinney will not start the Burnaby4 four-day track race in British Columbia next month, an event spokesman told VeloNews Wednesday.

Garmin-Transitions sprinter Tyler Farrar, who originally had planned to team with Phinney at the Dec. 27-30 event, will now team with his Garmin teammate (and Canadian) Christian Meier, said spokesman Jeremy Storie.

“For us locally, while Taylor is a loss, Christian is a big gain as he is known locally and won the inaugural Burnaby six-day held six years ago,” said spokesman Jeremy Storie. “We have
also added (New Zealand’s) Jo Keisanowski as well as just signing (Trek-Livestrong’s) Justin Williams and a partner to be decided.
