Spain’s Ruta del Sol in February is drawing a stellar field for the five-day race set for February 20-24 as several top pros kick start their respective 2011 seasons.
Seven ProTour teams will be lining up for the early season race that will see some marquee names. Levi Leipheimer (RadioShack), defending champion Michael Rogers (Team Sky) and Oscar Freire (Rabobank) are some of the top names who have already confirmed.
Leopard-Trek is the latest team to confirm its lineup, with the Schleck brothers, Jens Voigt, Linus Gerdemann and Maxime Monfort will be part of the team.
Among the teams set to start include Sky, RadioShack, Movistar, Geox-TMC, Leopard-Trek, Euskaltel-Euskadi, Rabobank, Skil-Shimano, Saur-Sojasun and Spanish teams Caja Rural and Andalucia-Caja Granada.
The race opens Feb. 20 with a 6.8km opening prologue followed hilly routes that could provide hunting ground for a breakaway. Stage finishes include Adra, Jaén, Cordoba and Anteuera.
