Tour of the Battenkill organizers Anthem Sports have announced the launch of a new classics-style race and race series. The Tour of Washtenaw in Saline, Michigan, will be the second event in the new Great American Cycling Series.
According to a release from Anthem Sports, the Washtenaw race was inspired in part by the Rob Pulcifer book, “Dirt Road Washtenaw.” Held May 14, the one-day pro-am race will feature paved and dirt roads similar to Battenkill.
The Tour of the Catskills, scheduled for August 5-7, is the third event in the Anthem-backed Great American Cycling Series. According to the release, two additional events – in Colorado and New York – will be announced soon.
