The organizer of the Quebec and Montreal one-day ProTour races is considering a stage race for the Boston area in 2012, AFP has learned.

Organizers plan to launch the race as a World Tour event in early September, preceding the one-day events in Canada.

Organizer Serge Arsenault said he would propose a three- or four-stage event. That would give riders six days of competition over a 12-day period in the region, which Arsenault said would be “wonderful preparation for the world championships.” The 2012 UCI world road championships are September 15-23 in Limburg, Holland.

Arsenault, speaking to AFP in Paris, also said the Montreal and Quebec one-day races would be about 15km longer this year.
