The German Pro Continental squad NetApp has signed South African pro Daryl Impey, one of the victims of the collapsed Pegasus squad last year.

Impey, who rode for RadioShack last year, had planned to join the Australian Pegasus team for 2011. When that team disolved, he switched to the Team MTN – Qhubeka, a Continental squad based in South Africa.

“Daryl is an all-rounder who will support the team in the demanding upcoming racing schedule, ” said manager Ralph Denk. “He is strong in tours, is an absolute team player and has proven to have a very stable form despite some turbulence in the last six months. We are counting on this morale and performance.”

Denk and Impey gave kudos to MtN – Qhubeka and its manager, Douglas Ryder, for taking Impey on with short notice and then graciously releasing him to NetApp.

Impey will ride for Team NetApp for the first time May 25th at Germany’s Bayern Rundfahrt stage race.
