Fort William Gets World Cup Gravity Events to '13

The Fort William in Scotland will play host to World Cup downhill events for another two years.

The UCI and race organizers confirmed the agreement, which will guarantee the event stays in Fort William until at least 2013, according to a report in the Highland News.

Both the 4-cross and downhill courses at the venue received $160,000 in upgrades prior to the June 4 event, which was won on the men’s side by Greg Minnaar and Tracy Moseley for the women.

The new agreement recognizes that the venue has been votec the best mountain bike event in the world by the International Mountain Bike Trade Team Organisation (IMTTO), four times, and the UCI teams have voted it the best downhill World Cup six times.

The 2012 round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Fort William will take place on the weekend of June 9-10.
