Verschoor breaks Team Type 1 stage drought with Beauce win

Martijn Verschoor turned the tide of Team Type 1 podium places Wednesday with the stage 2 win at the Tour de Beauce at Thetford Mines, Québec. Verschoor hung tight in an aggressive, three-lap finale on the short finish circuit and took the team’s first single-day win of 2011 out of a bunch sprint.
Shawn Milne (Kenda-5-hour Energy) finished second with Chipotle Development’s Danny Summerhill third.
Verschoor, a Type 1 diabetic, scored the squad’s biggest win to date by one of its diabetic riders.
