Mountain bike racing is traditionally a solo endeavor. But this year’s Leadville 100 may buck that trend thanks to a quartet of Team Cannondale pros lining up at the start on August 13.

Top dog on the team will likely be Jeremiah Bishop, who was fifth overall last year, riding most of the race’s second half with six-time champ Dave Wiens. But don’t completely overlook Bishop’s teammate, Alex Grant, who will be piloting an SRM-equipped Cannondale Flash 29er hardtail on Saturday.

Heretofore best known as a pure endurance specialist (he was second at last year’s La Ruta), Grant showed off an expanded skill set in July, slotting eighth at the U.S. national championships cross-country race in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Since then Grant has been solely focused on prepping for Leadville, and could give Cannondale a lethal one-two punch in an event that’s heavy on road race tactics. Rounding out the Cannondale team are ‘cross specialist Tim Johnson and the legendary but aging Tinker Juarez.

Here’s a look at Grant’s Cannondale:
