PARIS (AFP) — Dutch outfit Vacansoleil will line-up in this year’sp Vuelta a España without last year’s runner-up Ezequiel Mosquera. The 35-year-old Spaniard took second place while riding for Xacobeo, but it was later revealed that he had tested positive for the banned substance Hydroxyethyl Starch, also known as HES, during an in-competition test at the race.
As he waits to find out whether he will face a suspension, Vacansoleil has opted not to include him in a line-up, which does nevertheless include the Belgian Stijn Devolder, a two-time winner of the Tour of Flanders, and 23-year-old Dutch climbing specialist Wout Poels. Dutch champion Pim Ligthart and fellow-countryman Martijn Keizer will be competing in a three-week race for the first time.
