Specialized, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a recall of nine bicycle models with Advanced Group carbon forks.

According to the company, the brake boss can disengage from the fork, allowing the brake assembly to contact the front wheel’s spokes and posing a crash hazard.

The following 2011 bikes are affected: Sirrus Comp, Sirrus Expert and Sirrus Elite; Vita Comp, Vita Expert and Vita Elite; and Tricross, Tricross Comp and Tricross Sport.

The bikes were sold from June 2010 to August 2011.

Customers are advised to stop riding the bikes at once and return them to an authorized Specialized dealer for a free replacement fork. For additional information, contact Specialized at (877) 808-8154 or visit the company’s website at www.specialized.com.
