Coordinated by two different groups of regional police officers, 80 team cyclists, 20 Hyundai chase cars, 10 team vans, and a handful of VIP Mercedes Benzes caravanned for an hour to the outskirts of Beijing where the Tour of Beijing cyclists promptly began a mass team group ride from a roadside pull-out.

Police escorts provided a single -ane rolling road closure and seemingly changed the out and back route with just minutes’ notice after team managers requested that the distance be reduced from 120km to less than 100km.
