And we have a winner!
Our top vote-getter in our Jens-off hardman photo contest was Dale Tapley’s photo of his son Cody Tapley. Cody, 19, races for Whole Athlete-Specialized and the photo was taken at the 2011 Sacramento Grand Prix.
Second place goes to a photo of Steve Seabourn, of Amarillo, Texas. Seabourn crashed at the MS Wild West 150, in July. “My front wheel mixed up with another rider resulting in crash after 60 miles. Continued an additional 23 miles before forced to stop. Fractured left clavicle required surgery … I was fortunate enough to actually meet Jens the day before the prologue of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Colorado Springs. Arm was in a sling due to the crowds. He actually asked me what happened. He followed that up asking when it happened. He then said “hmmm, give it two weeks then you can ride”!
Rounding out the podium is a shot of Fred Thomas at the 2010 Sterling Classic Road Race in Massachusetts. The photo was taken by Pete Banach.
The three photographers will receive one of the three handlebars that Voigt “bent” for the November issue of Velo magazine.
