Performance Bicycle has issued a voluntary recall affecting almost 3,000 sets of pedals sold under the Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based company’s house brand, Forté. The 2011 Forté Pro Carbon Road Pedals can potentially break or crack during use. No injuries have been reported, but if you ride this model here are a few things to check for.

The affected pedals are black with a black axle. The front of the pedal has “Carbon” printed in red and the “EPS-R” embossed in the body with a red “R.” The catalog number for the pedals is 50-8128. They were sold online, through the Performance catalog and in Performance retail locations from February 2011 through October of the same year.

Consumers should stop using the pedals immediately and contact Performance Bicycle for a full refund. Call (800) 553-8324 from 9 am to 8 pm Eastern Standard Monday through Friday or visit the website www.perfomancebike.com for more details.
