NICE, France (AFP) — The UCI announced Monday that the federation had extended the licenses of seven WorldTour races. Among the events receiving extensions were the GP Ouest-France and Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, two races that have recently faced significant financial shortfalls.

In a statement, the UCI said, “Concerning the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, which had recently made public the financial difficulties it was facing, the UCI reiterated its commitment to contribute to a sustainable development plan, the details of which have as yet to be finalized.”

The other races receiving extensions included the Eneco Tour of Benelux, Gent-Wevelgem, the Tour de Pologne, the Tour de Suisse, and Vattenfall Cyclassics.
