PARIS (AFP) — Ag2r La Mondiale will race the Tour de France without Italian Rinaldo Nocentini, who wore the yellow jersey in 2009.

“Nocentini has trouble staying focused in a three-week race,” said general manager Vincent Lavenu, who said the Italian would race the Tour of Poland instead.

The good news, Lavenu says, is that the team has never had so many French riders before.

“There will be eight and a half,” he said, the half being Nicolas Roche, whose father is Irish and mother is French.
