Reigning downhill world champion Danny Hart will not attend the 2012 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships and the final 2012 UCI Downhill World Cup in order to recover from shoulder surgery.

Hart dislocated his shoulder after the Air DH event at Crankworx Les Deux Alpes and tore ligaments in his left shoulder.

He got surgery immediately following the accident and is recovering well.

His work in physical therapy hasn’t recovered his full range of motion yet and he is going to sit out the important races. Hart will return to the World Cup racing circuit in 2013.
