Escondido, Amgen officials set for Tour of California announcement

Amgen Tour of California organizers will convene with Escondido city officials Tuesday for what they’ve billed as “an exciting announcement regarding the 2013 Amgen Tour of California.” Officials should reveal the race’s route on Tuesday and it appears as though San Diego County will play a major role.
Escondido hosted the overall finish of the 2009 Amgen Tour, when riders tackled the Palomar Mountain climb and Fränck Schleck bested Vincenzo Nibali for the win.
The 2013 Amgen Tour of California is scheduled to take place May 12-19.
